Autopilot vs The Customer Factor

The Customer Factor is a veteran, honestly cheap CRM that window cleaners and pressure washers have trusted since 2004. Autopilot costs a few dollars more and adds the things it never built: a business phone, an AI receptionist, online booking, and modern texting.

Who is The Customer Factor?

The Customer Factor has been running since 2004, which makes it one of the longest-lived CRMs in the cleaning trades. It serves window cleaners, pressure washers, maid services, and carpet cleaners with scheduling, estimates, invoicing, customer tracking, integrated credit card processing, automated follow-up emails and drip campaigns, and iOS and Android apps. Unlimited employees are included.

The price is the headline: $44.95 a month flat (it sat at $34.95 for over a decade before a recent increase), with a 30-day risk-free trial, no contracts, and no setup fees. Existing customers are grandfathered at whatever rate they joined on, which has earned it a loyal base. Trade associations like the PWRA get discounted annual deals.

The trade-off for that longevity is age. The interface and feature set show their years: there is no built-in phone system, no AI, no modern online booking flow, and texting is not a core part of the product. For a solo window cleaner on a route of repeat customers, it still does the job at a fair price.

Who is Autopilot?

Autopilot is an all-in-one CRM built for home service businesses: junk removal, cleaning, landscaping, moving, and the rest of the trades that keep neighborhoods running. Plans start at $49 a month for scheduling, estimates, invoicing, payments, and online booking. Crew at $99 adds two-way texting and limited calling. Full Throttle at $149 adds the full phone system, AI receptionist, QuickBooks, GPS, and marketing tools. Plans include 1, 5, or 10 team members respectively.

It was built by a founder who ran his own junk removal company and got tired of paying for three tools that didn't talk to each other. Over 400 businesses run on it today, and it holds a 4.8 rating on the App Store and 4.9 on Google Play.

Against The Customer Factor, Autopilot is the same flat-price, no-contract philosophy, executed a generation later, with the phone, the AI receptionist, texting, and online booking built in.

The bottom line

Two different tools for two different businesses. Here is the honest split.

Choose The Customer Factor if…

  • You are a solo window cleaner or pressure washer with a settled route of repeat customers
  • You want the absolute lowest flat price and do not need a phone system or AI
  • You value a 20-year track record and price protection over new features
  • Email-based follow-up campaigns are enough marketing for your business

Choose Autopilot if…

  • You miss calls while you are up a ladder and want an AI receptionist booking them for you
  • You want a built-in business phone with recording, transcripts, and two-way texting
  • You want customers to book online instead of playing phone tag
  • You want SMS campaigns and a review funnel, not just email drips
  • You want a modern iOS and Android app your crew will actually enjoy using

Switching from The Customer Factor takes an afternoon

Four steps, and our team does the heavy one for you.

  1. 1

    Export your customers

  2. 2

    We import everything for you

Send us the file and our team loads your customers, jobs, and price book into Autopilot as part of free onboarding. No spreadsheet wrestling on your end.

  3. 3

Point your phone number at Autopilot

On Full Throttle, keep your existing business number. We port it or forward it, so calls start landing in Autopilot with recording, transcripts, and the AI receptionist behind them.

  4. 4

Run both for a week, then cut over

Your The Customer Factor account keeps working during your free trial. Most crews book their first Autopilot job on day one and cancel the old subscription within the month.
